Rugeley under 9s travelled to Barton for their second game of contact rugby.

We headed to Barton on this miserable Sunday morning for the second match of the season.

Everyone was hyped up for the match even when they were walking through the sludge.

The team played fantastically and gave it everything until the very end. They played 4x15 minute games and were extremely close on numerous occasions to scoring a try. They used space well and were thinking about the gaps.

Barton scored the most tries but our team stuck to the task.

Things we need to work on for our next game are being on-side and the pass after the tackle.

It was fantastic to see the same players turning up again for the match with the same attitude and commitment as they always do.

Man of the match is Cain Turton Who turned up as a completely different player this week showing textbook tackles and running into contact and carrying the ball.

Baggy’s sportsmanship award Has been given to 2 players this week who are Alfie and Oliver who both worked well with the Team and did not drop their heads once even when they were being defeated or losing the ball.

Thanks to the parents and children for your commitment and support
