England Rugby following updated government guidance have published a roadmap back to the resumption of rugby next season. It is very helpful but currently only allows very limited rugby activity in small groups. It seems likely the regular rugby season will be partially delayed but this is yet to be confirmed.
During the Coivd crisis we have continued to do a number of activities to keep our club together. We have held a number of social events online and have recently recruited Becky Dyke as a strength and conditioning coach to lead a number of video fitness sessions using Zoom.
It now seems likely we will be able to launch a pre-season training programme at some stage in July. The form of those sessions will depend on the guidance at the time those sessions occur.
We have been able to recruit a new coach to assist Head Coach Matt who we will unveil in due course.
Elise is also seeking to organise a socially distanced social event outside and on the field for mid July (again subject to the guidance and licensing rules in place at that time).
We are very grateful to John Morgan our volunteer groundsman who has kept the pitches in good shape throughout the lockdown period. Nik Nak is also making arrangements to re-furbish our outside patio area which we will likely need to use more significantly in the next few months (subject to guidance).
We have also engaged our regular cleaner to carry out a deep clean of the main club house building over the course of the next two Mondays.
With all of the above in mind we are looking for volunteers to assist us with undertaking a number of actions to get the club ready to bounce back.
We need to ensure we abide by the relevant social distancing rules and whereas previously we have had a large “rugbyforce” gathering this time around it will be necessary to undertake these avtivities in very small groups.
We have listed a number of actions below. If you feel you could assist and want to volunteer to take one of the tasks on please get in touch by email (mederidder@hotmail.com) or by our usual social media channels.
